Anchorage, Alaska --June 2017--

I traveled for the first time to Alaska back on June 21-28, 2017 with my mom, Heidi, and some relatives. We were lucky to stay at their house in Anchorage with their family and not worry about paying for a hotel. We cooked and ate so much. We were very welcomed and they kindly showed us all the popular spot that was near and far from them. We were very thankful. It also never got dark so we were going to sleep everyday at 2AM or 3AM.

The video was shaky for the most part so I hope that you didn't get a headache from watching that. But, Alaska at this time of year was so green compared to Sacramento's yellow grass. Escaping the heat at the time in Sacramento was so refreshing. I love cloudy and rainy weather so I loved my time in Alaska. The scenery with the snowcap mountains in the back was so beautiful.

Trip destinations —> Shopping, Flattop Mountain, Whittier, Seward, and Hiking

Red Apple Market - The closest Asian Market in the area.

Look at the price of those Avocados!

These are some expensive watermelons. And I thought Korea was expensive...

Stopping at Costco to stock up on water bottles.

My mom was like, "Why are you taking pictures of the flowers?"

But they're so pretty!

Nothing beats a home cooked meal~

They were raising some random rabbits. The kids loved them. Some were too rough with them though.

Flattop Mountain

We were taken to Flattop Mountain twice because the first time we went, it was so foggy and it started raining. The second time we went, Heidi and I hiked to the top of the mountain. In my opinion, it was the scariest hike I've done but totally worth it. The part that was the most tiring was the STAIRS! There was so many stairs that we had to keep resting. We also had to climb up the side of the mountain to get to the top. Some were just randomly made path that included the use of your hands. There was also a time where we had to use our hands to climb down stairs because it was just too steep. It even started sprinkling a bit but it didn't start pouring so we just continued. It's a quick hour and 30 minutes from the bottom to the top and back. We were told that you can finish it in 30 minutes to 1 hour. So, we did pretty good for our first time. The picture for the second attempt will be shown after the Seward photos.

On our way back, we spotted a wild moose!

This one was my favorite in their fish tank.

Watermelons!~

We stayed up lat making these desserts. These were made with coconut milk and steamed. Coconut steamed rice cake.

Whittier, AK

They took us to Whittier to take a look at the fishermen and the boats. Another relative also took us to Seward. We were told it was famous for their fishing dock. It looked to be a popular tourist area, too. You can look at fishermen and women display their catch of the day at the sign. Afterwards, they would take the fishes and clean them at the stations in the back.

Didn't like these small guys...

Coconut Curry with Noodles - Khao poon.

The struggles of fast draining batteries.

Picnic at Mirror Lake

Seward, AK

Nothing beats boiled chicken on a road trip!

Add some sour vegetables and peppers, too!

Flattop Mountain & Hiking

We were the ones who hiked but my mom is the one KO'ed.

Point Woronzof Overlook

We were taken here because we were told we would see a figure of a woman sleeping across the ocean. But, it was too foggy to see that far. After some research, the sleeping lady turned out to be Mt. Sisitna.

Just A Regular Day in Anchorage

Back to Sacramento, CA

This is actually the darkest it got during our stay in Alaska.

Thank you~
