Anna & Kalia in Korea --June 2016-- Part 5

Trip destinations —> Nami Island & Petite France

Information

Nami Island is famous for its filming location from the Korean drama "Winter Sonata." There are different activities to do: zip-lining to the island, bike riding, water activities, and enjoying the island. There are small shops for snacks and food. Petite France is famous for k-dramas filming locations of "Secret Garden" (Ha Ji-won & Hyunbin), "My Love From the Stars" (Jun Ji Hyun & Kim Soo-hyun), and variety show "Running Man" (Guests: 2PM). This place is smaller than I imagined but it is so cute. There are building that you can go into and there are also murals around the village. They also have a place you can re-watch some scenes from "My Love From the Stars."

Directions

Nami Island (Namiseom) is located in Gapyeong. It is a few bus stops away from Gapyeong Station (ITX Line). From Sinchon (Line 2) to Gapyeong takes about 2 hour and 15 minutes, including 2 transfers. After exiting the station, you can take the shuttle bus to all the attraction. There's also an information booth to the right side with a map of all the attractions after exiting the station. Get off the stop for Nami Island and proceed to the ticket booth, then onto the ferry that takes you to Nami Island. After touring Namiseom, go back to the bus stop area and take the shuttle bus to another attraction. We went to Petite France that was a few bus stops away (Take the shuttle bus, don't attempt to walk. Just a FYI in case some people are unaware).

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The shuttle bus can and will be crowded. People will stand and be stuffed in together. The attractions are far from each other so expect to be standing for a while in the bus. Also, if the bus is full, you will have to wait for the next bus to come. DOUBLE CHECK the schedule and leave enough time to explore and ride the last bus. We made a mistake last time and had to take the regular city bus back to the station. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Fee

The one-way subway trip was about $2.40. The shuttle bus fee is $6 and can be used for the whole day. As of 2018, they are offering free ferry rides to Nami Island! So you only have to pay for the entrance fee of $10 (discount for students and foreigners) & $13 (general admission). The fee for Petite France is $8 for general admission.

Ferry ride

This is the entrance into the island after getting off the ferry.

This time, they had an event where visitors write on a leaf shaped paper and hang it onto the fence.

A shot of the lined trees with a random couple.

Anna was buying us some meat on a stick to munch on.

We took a break from walking around and watched a few of their performances.

For lunch, I took them to eat dosirak since they didn't know what to eat. It's a lunch box filled with rice, eggs, spam, kimchi, and red pepper paste.

The way to eat this is to shake it until all the ingredients are mixed together. The box is metal and the food is hot, so gloves are provided~

Here's my dosirak.

They also have a mini water park inside!

Stack a stone and hope that it doesn't fall over in the process.

Time to head back to land!

Bye Namiseom! Kalia's mom (my aunt) face timed her around the time we got on the boat so we both got to see both our moms (my mom was also there).

The sign signaling you have arrived at the correct location.

A selfie before entering the village.

They also post up the different dramas that took place here, including the variety show "Running Man."

They had a show here before we got in but it seem like it was the last one.

Kim Kalia & Jun Tina.

A small shop located in front of the stage area.

I remember this scene from Running Man where they ran around trying to hide from the 2PM members.

Tables for the restaurant area.

I spy the the girls!

This area is also where the Running Man members tried to hide.

The view from the top of the tower.

We had to wait a while for the people in the back to finish taking their pictures.

The Little Prince sketches.

There's a small plaza that people can sit around and are surrounded by the pretty buildings.

I wanted these adorable No Face!

Totoro~~

Rice punch is the best!

Here's the area where you can watch clips of the drama, "My Love From the Stars."

Leaving back to Seoul~ It was a well spent day.

For dinner, we decided to get take out~ We got dakjjim/chicken stew~ It was really big for 3 people. SO DELICIOUS! It includes chicken, carrots, potatoes, rice cake, clear noodles, onions, green onions, and soy sauce.
The final part will be uploaded soon~ Remember to come back for the update~

Thank you~
