March Life Update

University finally began about 2 weeks ago. It felt weird the first few days to be Yonsei again but it has become easier to walk and not become tired like how I was back in September. The classes I'm taking this semester are Korean Language Level 2, Chinese Characters (Hanja), Early Modern Korea and Its Historical Sites in Seoul, and Korean Grammar for International Learners. I'm really enjoying these classes so far.

I really enjoy learning about Korean history even though I am not good at remembering names, dates, and some events. But the historical sites and events that happened are far more interesting to me than American History. It may be in part due to historical dramas but, hey, at least it helps me remember. Chinese Characters reminds me about the time when I was trying to learn my Kanjis during my Japanese language course last Summer. It was quite hard to remember some of the characters and I confused myself with the worksheets but I know how it's structured now. I'll be having my first quiz on the Level 8 (beginner level characters) tomorrow. I've been complimented on my Korean (and that I look Korean... I wonder why) and I am really happy but I want to work more on my grammar since it's a little hard for me (even English grammar is difficult for me). For my Korean class, it goes faster than it did last semester for some reason even though it's the same 2 hour class. I really enjoy it. I actually retook the Korean Placement test again and didn't manage to go up to level 3. It's kind of okay since I'll be able to learn more vocabulary and go more in details on the grammars that I tried to learn myself a few weeks before the placement test. OH! I also learned that Hmong in Korean is "Mongjok" or "몽족." I think I learned it before but I forgot but now I know :] I was really surprised when the Korean professor who was testing me during the speech section for the placement test knew what Hmong was.

Seoul weather is getting really cold now even though it is the middle of March. My Korean language professors said that it is rare for the weather to be this cold in March. I don't really mind the cold weather right now since I like the cold more than the heat. I'm actually scared about the heat since it was crazy humid and hot when I came back in August. Since it will be Spring, I hope that it doesn't become too hot.

Since coming back Seoul in the middle of February, I've gone to some places with my friends. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I update whenever I go somewhere. I'll try my best to upload as quickly as possible on here so that you guys can see the places and food, too.

I'll be uploading the next post in a few hours or so, so look forward to our trip to Namsan Tower~

  2. haha! You look just like a korean girl. "Pa pa bao" & chubby cheeks!! Last week, I googled Hmong in the Korean translator on Google & 몽족 showed up but I was confused if there was actually a translation for it in Korea. Anyways, that's really cool that they know Hmong in Korea. 😂
I just started to go to the gym this month with a friend. It was really hard the first time & going uo 3 flights of stairs had me puffing for air. I'm trying really hard to drag Heidi and Mary with me to use the school gym in the morning when it isn't crowded. Let's go next semester when you come back~! 안녕~!!😊😊
