Food Blog~

Hello everyone~

This week's blog will be about... FOOD! Since we rarely cook at home, we eat out most of the time, both lunch and dinner. The only time when I would eat at home is in the mornings.

When we first came to Korea, we rarely went out to eat or explore. Now, we go out every night to eat or explore. I've been thinking about buying groceries to cook but when I see the prices or think about what to cook, I'm not sure if I want to. It seems cheaper to eat out than to buy groceries since I'm out until six everyday. Sleeping early doesn't work either, it just makes me toss and turn in bed so I watch dramas and use SNS until I become tired, which is about 2 to 3 in the morning. Before, I would always eat breakfast but now, I don't.
We skip breakfast most of the days since we have early classes or sleep in. I bought bread a few weeks ago and it became stale and moldy after a week so I had to throw it away. I was sad because there was still about half left. It makes me scared that I would just waste the food I bought so I'm carefully thinking about switching to home made food. Eating out is also easier, faster, and better (Why does it feel like I'm campaigning for eating out, lol).

Okay! Moving onto what you probably came here for, FOOD~~~ These may or may not be in chronological order since my pictures saves according to the Sacramento time instead of Seoul time. Enjoy!

Shena and I decided to try out the sushi place that we pass daily for dinner. I forgot what it was called, but I'll update again when I see the name :] We got a scallop roll, Lime Roll (wait, maybe the place is called Lime...), and a spicy noodle (I kind of forgot its name).

In the scallop roll, there was only imitation crab so most of the flavor is from the sauce and scallop. I liked it though.

I love fried sushi so this one was really good. I don't really like fish eggs but it was okay.

My usual place with my friends and Shena at Yonsei, Crazy Brown. I ordered the Mushroom Pasta and a Yogurt Smoothie. I really love their Kimchi Jjigae and Soondubu Jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew), which are only 5,000 won each (<$5). I also love their Caramel Macchiato which is 3,000 (<$3).

For dinner, we went to a restaurant in Edae that Lisha took us to. This was a blueberry tea drink that looked nothing like the picture but it was really good.

My Seafood Rice Alfredo dish. I had a pasta earlier for lunch so I wanted to eat rice but it tasted the same as pasta... I should have gotten an omelet but it's okay.

Debbie and Lisha ordered an omelet, which was really delicious. Shena ordered a Pasta but there was mostly onions.

Here is my breakfast at a Japanese restaurant in Hongdae that Minamo took us to. I had chicken with tartar sauce, rice, spaghetti, zucchini, pickled vegetable side dishes, and miso soup.

A shot of our food~~

We headed to CaFace in Hongdae~~

Our picture lattes and Shena's Strawberry smoothie.

We got a hot and iced Sweet Potato Latte and a Cafe Latte.

So Pretty~~

Before being ruined...

We still look cool~ The Sweet Potato latte was very sweet. It was really good in the beginning but it was too sweet that I couldn't finish it.

We got a dessert, Bird's Nest. I loved the ice cream the most (it's just regular chocolate ice cream :P).

For dinner on another day, we went to another small restaurant that Minamo took us to. I've been wanting to eat some Kalguksu, knife cut noodles, so I finally got some :]

Here we ordered some fried mandu and cheese ddeokbokki.

We also ordered kimbap and steamed mandu.

For dinner on another day, we went to Sujebi, a restaurant that Minamo recommended. They specialize only in Sujebi so the menu is just Sujebi and kimbap. Sujebi is hand torn noodle soup.

They have fermented radish for side dish and a pepper paste mix if you want your soup spicy.

For dessert that same day, we went to Pop Container and ordered an Oreo Bingsoo. It's delicious! It's my second time eating it.

We ordered a set so this set came with the Oreo Bingsoo and Nutella pancakes.

For lunch on Wednesday 11/11, I ate brunch with Debbie, Minamo, and Shena. We ate a Cheese Pizza, Salad, and Alfredo ddeokbokki at Crazy Brown.

On this day, 11/11/15, it was Pepero Day! I received some Pepero from Minamo, Sam, and some chocolate from Debbie ♡

For dinner, Shena and I went to the same Japanese Ramen restaurant we went to before and ordered 2 Tonkatsu Ramen set with rice and pork.

On this day, we decided to go eat at a fish restaurant that Debbie found in Sinchon for dinner. The side dishes were fermented octopus, seasoned bean sprouts, and kimchi. They had a soy sauce and bean paste for dipping sauce. There were a lot of people here but we were able to get seats.

Pictured here is there stir-fried squid dish. It was spicy but very delicious. The sauce is so good!

We order a pork dish and a fish. We didn't know which fish to choose so Debbie pointed to the table next to us that had their fish and said, "Please give us that." :] So we got a grilled mackerel. It was delicious! I want to go again.

Then lastly, we order a Soft Tofu Soup to eat along with our food :]

On the rainy day of Friday the 13th, we went to Gwangjang Market, 광장시장. Here, we sat at one of the stalls right in the middle of the intersection of the busy market and ate street food!!! The delicious fried food was in front of us. The fried zucchini was sour. I'm not sure if it was spoiled or if it was how its suppose to taste, but Minamo and I didn't like it.

The HUMONGOUS sundae, blood sausage, that was in front of Shena and Sam as they ate. It was delicious. You guys should try it, too!~~

Pictured: Kimbap that you can barely see from the left side, Sundae with liver, my slice of Korean pancake, and in the bowl is fish cake soup.

Here is the fish cake soup and some fried Pancakes.

In the bowl at the top, it is Japchae (a Korean glass noodle dish. It's delicious, my favorite!), then Pig feet (족발), and ddeobokki that was so soft, chewy, and delicious. My favorite ddeokbokki is still from that vendor that is located at SPAO in Sinchon.

After the market and street food, we went to the Seoul Lantern Festival then came for dessert (Pictures from the festival is coming up in another post). We got a strawberry shortcake, cheesecake, and tiramisu. Single slices of cakes in Korea are expensive if you are eating alone but okay when eating with others since you are splitting the bill. These 3 came out to about 24,000 won (an estimate since I don't quite remember). This was a cafe shop located across the Cheonggyecheon Stream when you exit the stream using the stairs on the right hand side.

On this Saturday, I hung out with Minamo and Debbie in Crazy Brown planning our trip for the winter and then we went to the dorms to eat Minamo's cooking. She made us soba noodles that her Mom sent her from Japan. It was so delicious that I didn't take any pictures :[ We went to GS25 before going to the dorms and Debbie bought for us frozen Dumpling. They were also very good and were about 5,000 won a bag.

Minamo also received a Sushi Jelly making kit from her Mother. We went to Debbie's room to hang out and made it :] It was fun and good. It tasted very sweet. I want to give some to my little sister to make, she'll love it :]

For dinner on another day, we went to eat chicken since I wanted to eat it again :] This place is called "닭 한마리," literally One Chicken (Dak Hanmari) located in between Sinchon and Edae. We ordered 2 chickens that came with vegetables, pepper, sauce, and kimchi. I love the sauce, it's so yummy.

The side dishes and my sauce.

Add in the vegetables into the sauce and eat it with your chicken, it's delicious~~

After finishing your chicken, you can add in noodles! The noodles with the chicken broth and sauce is really delicious.

After eating the noodles, you can also ask for rice :] hehehe and that's what we did. Here, the worker is making our porridge which consist of rice, eggs, and seaweed.

The finished dish. Yes, it was also delicious~~

On this Monday, we have decided to go the Sky Park, 하늘 공원, but since it was going to rain, we decided to cancel and go the following Monday instead. Instead, we decided to go here for lunch and then head over to Hongdae for desert. This Japanese restaurant is down the street from our goshiwon, called Hana. The mini spatulas are so cute!

Their Special Yakisoba. ㅠㅠ The picture is blurry.

Okonomiyaki~~

We ordered 4 different dishes, 2 being Okonomiyaki and 2 Yakisoba.

For dessert, we went to eat ice cream at Sobok Cafe, 소복카페, which is located in Hongdae. We got there at 1:30 and they were still on break. One of the workers came out and changed the end of the break time to 1:45 when it was originally 1:30 so we decided to walk around instead.

Ice Cream~ The balls are ice cream with a rice cake in the middle. The flavor was vanilla with some pieces of pumpkins, persimmon, rice cake, honey, and a flower for decoration. We ordered a sweet potato flavor one but they were sold out so I ordered another regular one. While we were walking around earlier, some people were filming in the streets but when we finished our order for our ice cream, they also came to the same shop to film the dessert. Minamo tried to read the script on the back pocket of one of the guys while we were leaving, I'm not sure if she found out what it was or not since I was busy laughing at her attempt to read the paper.

On Tuesday, we went to eat dinner with KK and Olivia who invited to AYCE BBQ. The food was so yummy, especially the pork! I'm not sure why the picture looks so blurry ㅠㅠ

(ㅠㅠ, I'm not sure why the picture looks like this)
AYCE BBQ with the girls. I remember passing this place when I was walking around with Shena but I didn't know that it was a buffet. It's 9,000 won per person (<$9), a pretty awesome deal :]

We were walking around for a while deciding which dessert to eat when Debbie noticed the new bingsoo at Sulbing~ They have 3 different varieties with strawberries.
On Thursday, Shena and I met up again with Christina and we had lunch together. We ate 국밥, Gook Bap, soup with rice which Shena saw on a cooking channel the night before. I got Sundae Gook Bap. It was very good and not spicy.

Afterwards, we went to a cafe and chatted for a while. I got a Grapefruit Ade. It looks pretty and not bitter :] Christina also got to go to EXO's concert at The Dome, so jealous!

This is all for this week. There's so much food. I got hungry again from looking at the pictures...I'm going to get in trouble again since my Mom told me to cook instead of eating out, but that's okay :]

The next post will be on the Seoul Lantern Festival, so come back to look at the beautiful displays. I also went to Changdeokgung Palace so I will post up some pictures from that trip on another post too.

There's only 4 weeks of this semester left! Time has gone by so fast that I've already been here for 3 months! It's almost time for essays to be due, catching up on readings, and studying for finals to begin again... But, for now I have something planned every Saturday with the girls since there's still so many others places in Seoul and Korea that we've yet traveled to. Come back to check on Thursdays or Fridays for updates :]

Thank you for reading and looking at my blogs.

♡ Christina
