Gyeongbokgung, National Folk Museum of Korea, and Hanok Village Tours

Our group E With our  leader SooKyung in the middle :]

Through Yonsei's Seoul Tour, we were able to tour Geongbok Palace, the National Folk Museum of Korea, and the Hanok Village :] It was a fun, hot, exciting, tiring, and beautiful experience. Not to mention, tons and tons of walking. We also got to meet lots of new people since we live off campus. I was surprised that many pictures came out pretty good since I was moving and clicking at the same time :] OK! Picture time! Go Go~~

First off, finding the New Millennium Building...

Once again, we tried to navigate through Yonsei without knowing exactly where the buildings are at. We had to walk up this stair first thing in the morning and it was seriously tiring lol. We tried asking people walking by and they also didn't know. So, we just kept walking uphill and turning the arc shown on the map and we eventually got there. We were scared that we were going to be left behind!

I was the 62nd person to sign up for this tour and my seat buddy was Maria :]

Gyeongbokgung~

The entrance gate of Gyeongbokgung. I didn't have my camera ready when we got out the bus so I was only able to take it when we got onto the bus again. At this time, many people began to come and the guards came out.

Entering the gates~

I like the clouds~ but not when it went away...

It was beautiful :]

This is the view after passing the second gates I believe.

The long roads I see on Korean historical dramas <3

A view from the top of the stairs. We also city the city in the back.

Inside is where the throne is located.

The throne~

Shena~~

Me~~

Find Shena!!

Now find me!!

The doors to another side of the palace

The colors were bright and pretty~

The view through the doors of the back of the pavilion with the throne.

So close, yet so far :] This tower was where the National Folk Museum was located.

The side walls of a building.

The National Folk Museum of Korea~~

The entrance to the Museum. The museum is located right next to the Palace. You would have to buy another ticket to enter the Museum section and vice-versa. I also think we were suppose to get stamps on our wrist to re-enter the Palace side but we just walked straight through the gates lol. When we came back, everyone was able to pass through the gates but Shena was the only one questioned about where her ticket was. We just told him she was with Yonsei's touring group and walked away. We were kind of surprised lol.

As we enter the open yard of the Museum, we can see on the right, the 12 zodiac animals :]

A shot of the entrance to the museum and the tower. I believe that we were only able to view a few sections of the museum exhibitions due to time.

It's too bad (?) that we can't climb up the stairs lol. It would have been a beautiful view.

Korean beds. I think this was where we were entering the wedding exhibition.

Cute children Hanboks.

If I remember correctly, this is the process of going to the bride's house.

This is the wedding ceremony

The traditional carrier for the bride, palanquin.

Traditional Korean instruments. We could also hear samples of the instrument on the system located on the outside of the glass.

Korean traditional drums.

The 60th Birthday Feast re-enactment. Lots of food!

The Bier that was used to carry corpse to the grave site.

Back to the Palace side~~

We existed the Museum and are heading back to the other side of the palace.

I, for some reason, like multiple door shots :]

Shena and I :]

Me alone~

The place was so beautiful~~

Walking back to the main gate to leave for lunch.

A panorama shot of the beautiful Palace~~

We weren't able to see the performance of the guards but we saw them as we were leaving.

Lunch Time~~

Going for lunch at the buffet on the 6th floor of SPAO in Sinchon.

My awesome plate of food. Those noodles near the top left were so spicy I couldn't finish them.

Debbie's plate of food.

Shena's Plate of food.

My self-made Patbingsoo with Vanilla and another pink flavor (lol I don't remember since the name was in Korean and I didn't recognize it), nuts, seeds, and condense milk.

Hanok Village~~

After our lunch in Sinchon, we took the bus back to the same area where the Palace was and went touring the Hanok Village. It was very hot and tiring because of the hilly streets but the building were really beautiful~

Traditional Korean Rooftops

We saw two k-pop merchandise stores on our tour around the village.

I was surprised this picture came out pretty well since I was walking and taking the picture of this alley way/street.

I like this shot, but the car....

City buildings in the back.

I spy Namsan Tower, See you up closer tomorrow~~

Going down steep and high stairs.

On our way to aboard the bus back to Yonsei.

This makes it the end of the trip! Shena and I had to walk back to our room from the New Millennium building and went straight down the path to see where we ended up. Instead, it was further than the way we took from the Main Entrance. It probably took us more than 20 minutes or so to get back to the goshiwon. Thank you for reading~~

Also, Happy Birthday to Shena! :] She did lots of walking for her birthday :D

  1. Showed this to Mom, b/c she just came back from Fresno. She said that you're going to get FAT from the buffet food! Buahahaha! She was also complaining why you don't eat home cook meals.

    1. Dude, with all the hills and walking of Yonsei, I'll be fine lol. I'll get fat off of noodles and eggs, not the buffet food. I wish I could eat that everyday!! It was delicious!!

I'll be doing that soon when I'm tired of all these noodles and eggs. I still got to go look at the prices of the vegetables and fruits... I do miss MY home cooked meals muahahaha!
